Colin Scruton, BVetMed MS MRCVS DipACVS
Colin grew up in the Comox Valley where he learned to ride showjumpers with Linda St. Michael and Peter Holmes. He graduated in 2000 from the Royal Veterinary College in London, England. Following that, he completed a large animal internship at Washington State University in Pullman. His next step was an equine surgical residency and master’s degree at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Surgical management of bone spavin and intra-articular management of joint pain were the topics of his master’s degree. Colin became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in February 2005 and was awarded a Master’s degree in May of that year. After completing his residency, he stayed at CSU as faculty for 9 months running a surgery and lameness service. This was followed by a year of employment in a similar capacity at the University of Glasgow. Colin has been working at and running Equerry since July of 2006. Colin’s practice involves managing all types of horses from back yard pets to high level competitors in many disciplines. Over the past several years Colin has increased his involvement in equine sport being a veterinary judge for competitive trail rides as well as endurance races and becoming and FEI official veterinarian for show jumping.
